A little about me....
Hi, I'm Jo, I'm thirty-something (knocking on forty, but we won't go there!) and have been married for 12 years to a wonderful man named Chris. Not only is he my soul mate and best friend, if you book me for your wedding you'll also find out he's my very glamorous assistant/ second shooter! We have three gorgeous boys who keep us young and drive us crazy but in their own individual ways bring us more happiness than we ever dreamed of when we first met almost 20 years ago. Like many of us, I love taking photos of my kids, my gorgeous chunky chocolate labrador, beautiful landscapes and happy times. We have a wonderful life that we are very grateful for and we want to record our treasured moments so in years to come we have a whole memory bank of photos that we can cherish. And of course, we're building a library of funny photos to embarrass our boys with when they bring their first girlfriends home! Life is about living to the full, doing what you love, learning new things, being with those that make you happiest and creating happy memories that you can cherish always. All of these things have played a part in my chosen career.
I shot my first wedding back in 2008 and with a couple of years off in between having my babies, I've shot well in excess of 100 weddings. I feel extremely privileged to do this job, I've met many wonderful people, shared the happiest day in their lives and come away with some fabulous friends in the process.
I've also learnt a lot over the last 9 years, I've trained with some of the UK's best wedding photographers, I've developed my techniques and expanded my business to cover not just weddings but also families and baby photography. I've worked at many of the county's best known venues as well as further a field across the UK, my wedding travels have even taken me as far as Cape Town, South Africa. I'm a very lucky girl to have found a passion for something that I've been able to turn into a well established business.
I love working with natural light, capturing real moments, real expressions, real tears of joy, emotion and happiness. Weddings are just jam packed with these moments. And although I enjoy taking arty shots of flowers, reception details and venues, its the people that make it for me. There's no one else on your wedding day that you will spend as much one-on-one time with as your photographer, we are there with you from start to finish (almost)! So its essential that you choose someone that you feel completely comfortable with. As well as an initial meeting before booking, where I hope you will get a good feel for me and my style, I always aim to meet up with my clients over a coffee before their wedding so that we can discuss all the important details. This is also a great opportunity for me to take some practice shots to get you used to being in front of the camera, which means you get a mini engagement shoot thrown in with the package! Getting the best out of your wedding photos isn't all about poses, I want to capture the real you and the best way to do that is to help you relax. The natural shots, taken when you're not even aware of the camera, are usually the best one's!
On a typical wedding day, I start with the morning bridal preps. I love this time of the day, capturing all the little but oh-so important details that set the scene; the dress, the shoes, the make-up being applied, the giggles with the bridesmaids, the arrival of the Father of the Bride and then of course those magical few moments as the bride makes her entrance down the aisle. Its also a great time for me to get to know the key members of the wedding party. We stay through to the first dance in the evening and capture as many precious moments in between as possible. I'm not your average bossy photographer that most people expect (no whistle blowing or shouting from me!), I try to remain as discreet as possible to allow you to enjoy the wedding that I know you've planned and worked so hard for. What you will get with me is a friendly, relaxed and professional photographer. I'm also open to all of your ideas and happy to work with you to produce the photographs that you want of your special day.
With my family shoots I like to get out and about and make the most of natural light and surroundings; jumping in muddy puddles and capturing children play and have fun is one of my favourite things to do. When I'm not photographing other families, I'm often out in the woods with my camera, my boys and our lazy but loveable chocolate Labrador!
Our couples are generally looking for a natural reportage style to their wedding photographs, with some element of traditional group photographs. They want a creative and easy-going wedding photographer who doesn’t just stick to the standard stuff. It's important to have a mixture of colour and black and white photographs to choose from and then to have the freedom to have those photographs printed themselves, without huge expense or print issues. All of our packages include photos on a disc/USB complete with print release.
Don’t just take my word for it; take a look at my Testimonials page where you'll find feedback from some of my past clients.
